Transforming history: From 19th-century cottage to contemporary haven

Imagine a home that feels like a private Mediterranean retreat — would you ever leave? This remarkable residence on Australia’s Mornington Peninsula is a European-inspired oasis. Built in 1877, the heritage-listed facade has been preserved; but step inside and you’ll discover a bold reimagining of the original limestone cottage.

This includes a fully redesigned backyard, complete with a pool and an outdoor dining area. A new extension at the rear has added a guest wing, gym, bathrooms, and modern laundry. The heart of the home — its kitchen, living, and dining spaces — has been elevated with an interior renovation.

X-Bond Microcement is a standout feature, covering nearly every surface inside and out — from the floors and ceilings to walls, joinery, showers, and the entire pool.

If you’ve ever wondered how to bring the aesthetic of Santorini’s iconic cliffside architecture into your space, microcement is the secret. Its seamless, minimalist finish captures the essence of coastal luxury, making it the perfect choice for anyone dreaming of beachside living.

The cleverly concealed retreat, described as “Mad Men meets the Batcave”, offers everything you could want for relaxation and entertainment; an indoor pool, golf simulator, gym, and a sleek basement bar/lounge.

Blending rich textures and a dramatic palette, the interiors are luxurious, sophisticated, and timeless. SEMCO X-Bond Microcement was installed on the walls, ceilings, and support columns.

Coastal luxe: Where beachside charm meets urban sophistication

DKO Architecture seamlessly blends natural elements with a touch of urban upscale in these ultramodern beachside townhouses, where organic and industrial elements collide.

Think stacked stone walls and warm timber paired with X-Bond Microcement flooring and wall finishes — not to mention the show-stopping microcement staircase.

With its sculptural form, the staircase steals the spotlight, showcasing the versatility of X-Bond’s ultra-thin profile and hand-troweled craftsmanship. It’s a true statement piece in this stunning contemporary space.
